Purpose of project: The purpose of the illustration was to provide compelling cover art to accompany an article submitted to a scientific journal. Constraints or parameters: Publication sizing specifications were the only parameters for this assignment. Process: A combination of original photography, 3D modeling (Strata Design 3D CX), and image styling (Adobe Photoshop) was used to create the final art. Submitted on behalf of Dr. Hao Yan.
